Fourth Sāriputta World Peace Walk held on 16th November, 2013

Buddhist literature mentions that Venerable Sāriputta, Venerable Mahā Moggallāna and Venerable Mahākassapa the three prominent disciples of the Buddha were from neighboring villages of Rājagriha (now Rājgir). In order to pay Dhamma tribute to the Buddha and his prominent disciples Nava Nalanda Mahavihara since year 2010 has been organizing events at the places associated with these prominent disciples. Pali sources mention that Venerable Sāriputta attained parinirvāṇa (parinibbāna (p)) on Kārtika Pūrṇimā (full moon day- October-November) at his native village Nālagāmaka near Rājagriha. Nava Nalanda Mahavihara in collaboration with District Administration, Nalanda and Bodh Gaya Temple Management Committee (BTMC) has been organizing Sāriputta World Peace Walk on eve of Kartikā Pūrṇimā each year since 2010. This year Sāriputta World Peace Walk was held on 16th November (eve of Kartikā Pūrṇimā) at base of Giriyak Hill, Rājgir. Venerable Bhikkhu Saṅgha, important dignitaries, community of Nalanda and staff and students of NNM participated in the Walk.
